Players of The Planet Crafter get access to a variety of minerals. Some of them are so common that they sit on the surface in every corner of the map, but others are hidden away in caves and hard-to-reach biomes. But easily the hardest mineral to find is pulsar quartz.

Pulsar quartz is such a late-game material that players who find some early might not even realize just how valuable it is. However, it's essential for two of the most important late-game machines in The Planet Crafter, and it's part of a late-game item blueprint that can unlock two new areas. That's why it's important for players to know how to get their hands on this purple mineral.

Where to Find Pulsar Quartz

Planet Crafter Pulsar Mine

Pulsar quartz is mostly found in underground caves and tunnels, and often these caves are full of other rare minerals like osmium and zeolite.

  • A tunnel between the Arches and Meteor Crater areas contains pulsar quartz, but the Arches end is covered in ice that only starts melting at 45 μK. Coordinates are 137:164:2056 on the Arches side and -120:165:1715 on the Meteor Crater side.
  • One of the sinkholes near the Warp Gate conceals a cave full of osmium, sulfur, and pulsar quartz. However, this cave also has an ice wall that melts at 45 μK. Coordinates are 968:43:-975.
  • A black-and-white region at the southern edge of the map called the Meteor Field is full of rare minerals, including aluminum, osmium, zeolite, and pulsar quartz. Reaching the Meteor Field from the standard landing site is difficult, but it's the easiest place to find pulsar quartz early on.
  • If players manage to climb to the top of the Waterfall rock, they'll find a few pieces of pulsar quartz.

There are also ways to get pulsar quartz randomly once the Terraformation Index is high enough.

  • A late-game meteor shower event features a single massive meteor that drops between 6-8 pulsar quartz.
  • Basic chests that are first opened after these meteors start appearing will sometimes have pulsar quartz inside.

How to Make Pulsar Quartz

Planet Crafter Quartz Biolab

Much like super alloy, players can eventually craft pulsar quartz out of other minerals. The blueprint unlocks at 175 GTi, making it one of the last blueprints currently in the game. To make pulsar quartz, players need one each of iridium, uranium, osmium, zeolite, and methane. Also, while every other mineral blueprint uses the Advanced Craft Station, pulsar quartz must be crafted in the Biolab.

Why to Collect Pulsar Quartz

Planet Crafter Fusion Generators

Currently, there are three blueprints in The Planet Crafter that call for pulsar quartz.

  • Nuclear Fusion Generators unlock at 750 μK and generate four times as much power as the Nuclear Reactor T2.
  • Teleporters unlock at 25 GTi and allow players to travel instantly across the map.
  • Fusion Energy Cells unlock at 360 GTi and can open doors in the Warp Gate wreck and in the freighter wreck near the standard landing site.

At least for now, pulsar quartz is the only mineral that can't be mined. Fortunately, though, players who keep their eyes open will find more than enough of this rare material to power their late-game machinery.

The Planet Crafter is available now in early access on PC.
