NEW DELHI: Two constables chased two alleged snatchers on foot and caught up with them 50 metres away.
The duo, it was found later, was involved in over a dozen crimes each, the police said. The arrests were made on Thursday in Kamla Nagar Market.
Constables Pankaj and Shravan pinned down the suspects. On Thursday, around 11 am while on an informal visit to the Kamla Nagar Market, the constables spotted the two suspicious looking men on a black-and -red Pulsar bike.
They were rashly riding towards the Agrasen cut. The cops flagged them down but instead of stopping, they turned their bike, skid and left it there and started running.
"Showing courage and agility, the cops decided to chase the two and pinned them down within 50 metres. The accused were identified as Mohammad Imran (27) and Mohammad Hashim (23). They were frisked for weapons. Imran, who was pinned down by Shravan, was found with a sharp-edged cleaver tucked in his belt," Sagar Singh Kalsi, DCP, North, said.
The cops took the duo to SI Nishant, the officer on emergency duty, and narrated the sequence of events to him. The bike, it was found later, was stolen from Geeta Colony. The duo has 18 criminal cases registered against them.
